Your influence on the mental health of your team.

'Managers have just as much of an impact on people’s mental health as their spouse (both 69%)' according to new research from The Workforce Institute at UKG. I think we all want to have a positive affect on the mental health of our employees and agents at our real estate brokerages. It starts with consistent communication. I'm not throwing shade on weekly emails, there is a time and a need for one way communication.

I am talking about weekly one on one meetings with your team/employees. There are multiple reasons why these will be a game changer for your company culture and the mental health of your team.

1) You stay in sync with your people. They don't go too many days without being reinforced of the vision, the purpose, and their importance to the company goals.

2) You have the opportunity to give and receive feedforward. This should be a two directional conversation. The Workforce Institutes research also says 38% of employees say they’ve “rarely” or “never” talked with their manager about their workload.

3) It's for them to have a connection with you as their boss. Get your ego out of the way on this one, its for them, not for you.

You probably already have a monthly/quarterly cadence with your top producing agents (shame of you if you don't!) however knowing the influence you have on your employees, its equally important to spend consistent time with them as well.
